Course Reviews

Hannah made you feel very comfortable and at ease

Taryn

"I enjoyed this course because it made me realise the importance of self-care and learning how to recognise the signs of a person who may be suffering from mental health distress and how to provide support to a fellow crew member. Knowing when to seek help from a professional. Hannah made you feel very comfortable and at ease. You didn't feel like you had to participate if you felt uncomfortable about a topic.

My biggest takeaway is to be mindful of the crew's behaviour and always remember there may be a bigger reason for how they act in certain situations. Yachting can be lonely, as it is your home and workplace. It's important to understand the signs of you when you or a fellow crew member may not be in a healthy mental state."

Let me say, wow!

I had the mental health first aid course yesterday, and let me say - wow! The course was so, so informative and I learnt so much!

Hannah was amazing like you said, and the course was so thought-provoking and almost empowering!

I just wanted to thank you and the team for setting this up for us and providing the set-up within the crew wellbeing course to do it.

Hannah was such a great teacher

Natalie

I’d rate this course an absolute 10/10! It was a great course, and I enjoyed learning about this side of mental health from a first-aider perspective. My biggest takeaway from the course is that most people just need another person to show empathy and kindness when they are feeling low. You don’t have to diagnose or give advice, just be there.

Hannah was such a great teacher - she has a wealth of knowledge and the way she delivered it kept the training fun and interesting. She has links to yachting so she understands the industry.

I feel the yachting industry needs more and more mental health first aiders as there are too many people leaving the industry due to poor mental health. Maybe if every boat had someone who was trained to spot signs earlier and signpost help, we could prevent things from escalating.

This course is AMAZING!

Chloe

This course is AMAZING! I highly recommend it for a number of reasons. With the rise of my own awareness around the topic of mental health, I was able to take away so much from this course. Not just for myself, but also for implementing in my life onboard yachts.

Hannah is an incredible course instructor, and gently guides you through topics and discussions to open your mind, while also not putting additional pressure on you.

This course deals with some important topics - burnout, exhaustion, crew politics, loneliness, bullying and homesickness are only some of the things that contribute to stress places on mental health and crew well-being in the yachting industry.

This topic has only had its time in the spotlight recently, and I feel that everyone in the industry should take a course like this, especially anyone who holds a leadership position!
